Cases
In this historic time of certain uncertainty many are facing unforeseen and unprecedented challenges. Investing a modest amount of time to define a problem well, significantly improves the likelihood of a positive outcome. It saves time and mitigates pain by not committing valuable resources to solve the wrong problem.

Here are a few case studies from previous work that illustrate the value of applying problem solving process to problem content and education development.

Case 1
Blue dot averts big spend at hospital
Waiting for blood test results from a centralized lab, a hospital clinic faced significant delays providing chemotherapy treatment to cancer patients. The team realized that by implementing the simple solution of marking pneumatic tube carriers with a blue dot for immediate return, treatment delivery significantly improved and the hospital avoided the labour and cost of setting up a new blood lab.
Case 2
Maintaining a standard of professional practice
A provincial healthcare regulator wanted to support licenced practitioners in professional practice via continuing education. A solution was developed to provide licenced practitioners a fixed-value coupon redeemable for continuing education courses at a leading academic institution. The program was deemed successful, resulting in increased educational uptake and satisfaction among licensees, prompting the regulator to continue the program for another year.

Case 3
Aggressive growth through focus
An international consumer product organization restructured its operations to focus on profitable sales growth, requiring regional teams to prioritize high-potential products and align their strategic plans with corporate goals, resulting in significant profit increases.
Case 4
Reducing injury in the workplace
A national association of dental professionals initiated a program to reduce workplace injuries, leading to the creation of a hybrid educational program involving live events and online resources. The program was successful and further research was conducted on dental clinician ergonomics, supported by a provincial association and a national dental equipment supplier.
